Our journey from foundation to future
Founded with a passion for innovation, Albwardy investments has evolved over the years into a multifaceted enterprise. Our group holding company was founded in the mid 70’s by UAE national, Ali Saeed Juma Albwardy, to oversee the various interests held whether under sole ownership, joint venture or with equity stakes of varying sizes. Over the last 50 years the group has added many leading global brands and companies to its portfolio.
Company profile
With an annual turnover exceeding one billion US dollars, we operate in a number of business sectors ranging from food retailing, food distribution, construction, engineering, hospitality and hotel ownership. We represent many international food retail leading brands through exclusive distribution and partnership agreements.
Our business interests consist of sole ownership, joint ventures and equity stakes in leading companies across the globe with operations in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia and South America.
Headquartered in Dubai, today the Albwardy portfolio consists of over 30 highly diversified companies and employs over 5,000 multi-national, multi-lingual staff, supported by a network of global partners. Individual companies within the group are run as totally autonomous business units with their own dedicated management teams whilst their board at all times contains at least one of the company directors with Mr. Albwardy always being in the chair himself.
Companies within the group, many of whom hold ISO accreditation, are monitored by the group management team allowing any necessary actions or decisions to be made promptly, this structure enables the group to operate with an extremely small but efficient head office mainly containing the internal audit team and management accountants together with the chairman and directors.

The Emirate of Dubai is synonymous with trade and development. A tiny pearl fishing village on the coast of the Arabian Sea, which over the past few decades has emerged triumphantly to become a world-class international city.
Dubai now stands at the forefront of regional development and its outstanding growth must be attributed to the amazing vision and foresight of the late ruler H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who undoubtedly laid the foundations for the prosperity that has followed within the Emirate. This success has been enhanced still further by his offspring and in particular the current ruler H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who has been responsible for the Emirate of Dubai reaching even higher levels of recognition and economic progress. The development of Dubai has been quite phenomenal and I, my company, and my colleagues are proud to have been a part of this economic evolution. It is companies like ours who have contributed to the growth of this wonderful city which has allowed the Group to expand into a diverse range of activities thus generating both employment opportunities and prosperity. Much of our success, I think, has been due to our innovative approach to conducting business. The main reason for our progress has been our pioneering spirit and willingness to step into areas at the time unknown to us, whilst not sacrificing either our integrity or commitment to excellence.
From humble beginnings the Albwardy Group has now become an organization that is recognized for its quality of service, management, overall commitment and reliability. Through teamwork and partnership we have succeeded in establishing a reputation as a group that represents only the very best in it’s particular field. Our supermarket groups Spinneys, Waitrose and Al Fair today are household names within the region and so are the products that we distribute be they Nestle, Kraft, Maggi, Dettol, Kleenex, Heinz, Henkel, Colgate, Ferrero Rocher or Libby’s. Our companies such as Pacman CCL, Nasco Karaoglan, Albwardy Damen or Technical Resources now hold the reputation of being amongst the leaders in their highly specialized industries and fields of expertise. Our hotels in different parts of the world are operated by some of the leading management companies such as Four Seasons, Hyatt, Melia and Rydges.
